Licensing,
monitoring and enforcement unit
The Licensing, Monitoring and Enforcement Unit, was established in January 2002. Its main function is to act as a licensing section and monitor and enforce regulations. This involves checking and upgrading data, acting as a cash office, issuing the respective licences, acting as a typing pool and monitoring and enforcing legal notices and regulations concerning respective licences. This unit is in fact divided into two sections: the licensing section and the monitoring and enforcement section.
The Licensing Section handles all the paper work related to input, checking, filing and processes of data.
The Monitoring and Enforcement Section has the main function of ensuring that the EU obligations related to monitoring and enforcement are kept for all licences in question. Furthermore the Malta Resources Authority, as the regulatory body, must also ensure that all the obligations related to the Malta Resources Authority Act are being observed through accepted professional and scientifically based monitoring and enforcement.
