The Malta
Resources Authority is participating in various EU-funded
projects as follows:
PRODIM – Proactive Management of Water Systems to face drought
and water scarcity in islands and coastal areas of the
Mediterranean
PRODIM is a
transnational co-operation project financed under the EU
Programme – Interreg III B Archimed. The overall objective of
the PRODIM project is to develop a comprehensive pro-active
management plan to combat drought and water scarcity in
drought-prone areas of the Mediterranean region with particular
reference to the islands and coastal areas.
Additional details are available from

WATER-MAP – Development and utilisation of vulnerability
maps for the monitoring and management of groundwater
resources in the Archimed area
WATER-MAP
is a transnational co-operation project financed under the
EU Programme – Interreg III B Archimed. The overall
objective of the PRODIM project is the application of the
DRASTIC method in the Archimed area in order to produce
vulnerability maps related to groundwater pollution, and the
utilisation of these maps in a spatial model for the
monitoring and management of groundwater resources.
INWATERMAN -
Sustainable management of water resources in an arid and semi-arid
insular context and the use of treated sewage effluent
INWATERMAN is a project financed under
the EU Programme – Interreg III A - cooperation between Italy
and Malta 2004-2006.
The overall
objective of the INWATERMAN project is the sustainable management of
conventional and non-conventional water resources in arid and
semi-arid insular settings.

SOLATERM - Promotion
of New Generation of Solar Thermal Technologies.
Solaterm is a project
financed under the 6th Framework Programme. The overall
objective of this project is the widespread application of solar
thermal systems for the hot water preparation, space heating and
climatisation in the Mediterranean partner countries in order to
meet the increasing demand for hot water and cooling and to exploit
the high potential of solar energy in the region.

CARBON
LABELLING PROJECT
The Carbon Labelling Project
under the
“Intelligent Energy for Europe Programme” of the European
Commission
involves a set of concurrent work package activities
to evaluate different aspects of carbon labelling in the fuel,
lubricant, vehicle and freight sectors. The program brings
together multiple countries and participants that work together
in looking at carbon labelling programs that can work best in
their country. Lessons learned from their particular approach in
their country are discussed to determine interest in European
carbon labelling initiatives.
