The Malta Resources Authority is a public corporate body with regulatory responsibilities relating to water, energy and mineral resources in the Maltese Islands. It was set up by the Maltese Parliament through the Malta Resources Authority Act of 2000. The MRA has wide ranging responsibilities essentially involving regulation of water and energy utilities, industrial enterprises exploiting resources such as oil exploration, quarry operators and private abstractors of groundwater, retailers, operators and tradesmen in the regulated sectors.

  Approval of New Tariffs for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Propane

 

The Malta Resources Authority has authorised the following tariffs for LPG and propane with effect from 1 August 2010.

3-in-1 logo - Maltese version - colour  Support Scheme for Photovoltaic Systems

- 2nd Call       

 

 

In order to further encourage the use of renewable sources of energy for domestic use, the following Grant Scheme has been launched. The scheme is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

 

Application forms for the grants are to be submitted to the Malta Resources Authority between 28th July 2010 and 10th August 2010   Link >>>

 

The Malta Resources Authority will be holding information meetings for households interested in applying for a grant on the purchase of photovoltaic systems for domestic use (PV/2010/2).

 

Everyone is invited to attend.

 

The meetings are going to be held on:

 

Saturday 24th July: Projects House, Floriana at 9.30 a.m.

 

Wednesday 28th July: Hotel Phoenicia, Floriana at 6.30 p.m.

 

Friday 30th July: Hotel Calypso, Marsalforn, Gozo at 6.30 p.m.

  Consultation: Updated: Quarries and Mineral Extraction (Authorisation) Regulations, 2010

The proposed Quarries and Mineral Extraction (Authorisation) Regulations, 2010, are being published for consultation.

The proposed regulations apply to all quarries and active and inactive mineral extraction operations. In terms of the proposed regulations, the  following activities shall require an authorisation; a) the exploration of a mineral extraction operation; b) the carrying out of a mineral extraction operation; c) the removal of material from a mineral extraction operation site.

A new section has been added (Section 18 with regard to the geo-technical assessment).  In view of this modification the deadline is being extended up to 28th July 2010.

  Implementation of the Water Framework Directive - Consultation on the Draft Water Catchment Management Plan

 

 

 

 

 

The draft Water Catchment Management Plan for Malta has been published for consultation.

 

All comments should be marked “Consultation on the First Draft Water Catchment Management Plan” .   The closing date for consultation is 30th November 2010.     Link >>>
